Taksim Müşterek / stage performance @ Centre des Arts - Enghien-les-bains & Tamirane - Istanbul

Taksim Müşterek

Taksim Musterek is about an intention for a subtle dialogue between sound and movement. Taking as structure, an old form in Turkish Classical Music, it proposes particular approaches to contemporary performance by suggesting ‘improvising’ rather than constructing, ‘receiving’ rather than creating, and ‘intuiting’ rather than planning.

This performance opens a delicate space for immersion through the practice of taksim. Taksim is originally the improvisational part without rhythm in Turkish Classical Music. And musterek, meaning ‘mutual’ or ‘collective’, focuses on the nature of ‘interactivity’ suggested by the use of digital technologies on stage.

This work is co-production of boDig and Istanbul Bilgi University - Performing Arts Track. It was created in residency at Santral Campus and at 8ème Rencontres Chorégraphiques de Carthage in Tunis. The Istanbul performance is supported by The French Institute Istanbul and Culturesfrance.
